In the middle of my book, Disarming Leviathan: Loving Your Christian Nationalist Neighbor, I share a brief but personal story about my search for safety, belonging, and purposeāa journey that once led me into a local group of neo-Nazi skinheads before ultimately bringing me to Jesus at the church I now pastor.
Earlier this year, Christianity Today invited me to share my testimony, which they printed in the May/June 2025 edition. You can find it here.
I also write in the book about the painful experience of pastoring through the turbulence of 2020. Recently, Ruth Braunstein and the team at Mash-Up Americans released a six-part podcast series that highlights stories of theologically evangelical congregationsāincluding oursāwho are actively resisting the rise of American Christian Nationalism. Check it out here.
My hope is that both the book and the podcast will encourage you to remain steadfast in faith and alert to the many ways God is at work in the lives of those around you.
Jesus loves you so much!

This was so encouraging for me to read, Caleb. Like cool water on a hot day. It was beautiful.
Your story shared with CT Media was very encouraging. Thank you!
